About Us

Convergence was founded in 2015 and is Victoria’s premiere contemporary ballet company. Convergence is the action of merging two distinct things into one unified whole. Through innovative choreography, stunning physicality and exhilarating programs Convergence merges the tradition of ballet with the freedom and expression of contemporary concepts. Our mission is to bring local dancers and choreographers back into Victoria arts culture, promote female choreographers and give back to the community by inviting young artists to attend performances and engage in artistic discussion.

Through our apprenticeship program, aspiring dancers are able to expand their technique in ballet, post modern, improvisation, choreography, and pas de deux. Dancers in the apprentice program will be able to dance with the company as an apprentice and be paid as an apprentice as well as become a professional artist with the company upon completion of the program. Convergence strives to provide and create a safe space for creators, artists and audience. All considerations are made and constantly reviewed. We honour each person and their individual needs aiming to make space for everyone to show up authentically without barriers. If you noticed something that needs to be addressed, please let us know. We will do everything possible to make amends and provide more consciously in the future. Convergence will not tolerate harassment or discrimination of any kind in any space we are present.
